Alma Treloar Reserve
Right in the heart of Cockatoo is the Community hub of Alma Treloar Reserve.
This wide expanse of parkland is central to everything, and home to numerous community groups and events throughout the year.
Originally home to the Treloar family, the land was donated by them to the community and is now an integral part of the Cockatoo landscape.
Recently there have been many additions and improvements to this area with the completion of stage one of what will be the Ash Wednesday Bushfire Education Centre and Memorial Garden. A joint initiative between community, Council, State & Federal Government as well as a hard working team of volunteers.
The Cockatoo Creek area has also undergone a recent transformation due to the hard work and dedication of caring community members who are continuing to strive for further improvements to the area. It has become a meeting area for neighbours and friends to gather, and it usage continues to grow. It is hoped in time there will be BBQ facilities available for public use.
It is also home to our off leash dog area, where many four legged friends enjoy the wide open spaces, before taking a refreshing dip in the creek.
The reserve is also host to numerous Community events such as our Australia Day Community Breakfast, Christmas Carols and our monthly Country Market which is the first Saturday of each month.
There is also a walking trail via a boardwalk along the creek which links up with the Cockatoo-Gembrook walking trail through Wrights Forest.
